Né à Béziers, Didier Théron est un autodidacte passionné par la danse. Son parcours a été façonné par des rencontres marquantes avec Merce Cunningham, Dominique Bagouet et Trisha Brown. Il s’est également imprégné de la philosophie zen au Japon, auprès du maître Harada Tangen, au temple Bukkokuji à Obama. Depuis 1987, il collabore artistiquement avec Michèle Murray, chorégraphe.

Un parcours marqué par l’innovation et la reconnaissance :

1987 : Création de sa  compagnie /1988 : Premier Prix de Chorégraphie aux Hivernales d’Avignon pour Les Partisans, sous la présidence de Dominique Bagouet / 1993 : Première tournée au Japon (Tokyo et Mito) / 1995-1996 : Lauréat de la Villa Kujoyama à Kyoto / 2010 : Harakiri est nominée aux Robert Helpmann Awards en Australie. Création de Shanghai Bolero Triptyque pour l’Exposition Universelle de Shanghai /2013 : Sa pièce Gonflés/Véhicules remporte le Grand Prix de la Triennale Internationale d’Art Contemporain de Setouchi au Japon / 2016 : Invité officiel de l’Élysée lors de la réception du Gouverneur d’Australie, Peter Cosgrove, en reconnaissance du rayonnement international de sa compagnie / 2017 : Premier Prix pour Shanghai Bolero Triptyque/Les Hommes à la Machol Shalem Dance House de Jérusalem / 2019 : Création de Resurrection, une réponse à Harakiri (2008), marquant une nouvelle étape de recherche chorégraphique avec le compositeur François Richomme.

Une vision artistique singulière : Didier Théron explore les notions d’écriture chorégraphique à travers le langage du corps, la maîtrise de la pulsion, des traits bruts mais épurés, et une composition graphique. Sa danse, pensée comme un langage total, s’ouvre à des dialogues avec la littérature, la musique et les arts plastiques.

Rayonnement international : Sa compagnie se produit sur des scènes prestigieuses en Europe (Allemagne, Royaume-Uni, Espagne, Italie, Finlande) et dans le monde : Ukraine, Chine, Japon, Australie, États-Unis, et Mozambique.

Collaborations artistiques : Didier Théron a travaillé avec Michèle Murray (chorégraphe), Daniel Buren (plasticien), François Richomme (musicien), et Noritoshi Hirakawa (plasticien), entre autres.

Ancrage local : Sous l’impulsion de Dominique Bagouet et du maire Georges Frêche, Didier Théron installe son équipe dès 1992 dans le quartier prioritaire de la Mosson à Montpellier. Son projet, La danse, art du lien, favorise la mixité sociale et la jeunesse grâce à l’Espace Bernard Glandier, inauguré en 2004 et devenu Pôle de Développement Chorégraphique en 2019.

Reconnaissances et engagements :

• Expert pour la DRAC Occitanie (2005-2009) et la Région Occitanie (depuis 2017).

International reputation: His company performs on prestigious stages in Europe (Germany, United Kingdom, Spain, Italy, Finland) and around the world: Ukraine, China, Japan, Australia, United States and Mozambique.

Local roots: Spurred on by Dominique Bagouet and Mayor Georges Frêche, Didier Théron set up his team in 1992 in Montpellier’s Mosson priority district. His project, La danse, art du lien, promotes social diversity and youth thanks to the Espace Bernard Glandier, inaugurated in 2004 and renamed Pôle de Développement Chorégraphique in 2019.
