Lea Ved (1991, Anaheim) est une chorégraphe et interprète indépendante basée aux Pays-Bas. Son travail chorégraphique s’est développé parallèlement à une riche carrière de danseuse – dans la réflexion, la déviation et l’investigation. Ses créations sont de nature exploratoire et investigatrice, imprégnées des détails de la forme et d’une pratique cultivée de l’improvisation. Ses œuvres les plus remarquables en tant que chorégraphe ont été produites par Göteborgsoperans Danskompani, NDT, Korzo Theater, Poetic Disasters Club, Heavy Hitters Breakdance Crew et CaDance Festival. Elle a rejoint le Korzo Theater en 2025 pour une résidence chorégraphique de quatre ans.

Pour son œuvre « darling we’re nowhere but here » (Korzo, 2020), elle a remporté le Club Guy & Roni Partner Award lors du concours international de chorégraphie en duo de Rotterdam en 2021, et a également été invitée au concours chorégraphique Sentidos en 2022. Elle a participé à la nomination et à la victoire du prix Piket pour l’équipe de breakdance Heavy Hitters pour son œuvre collaborative, Common Enemy, dans le cadre du CaDance Festival à La Haye (2023) et a été sélectionnée à deux reprises pour créer dans le cadre de l’échange chorégraphique de Göteborgsoperans Danskompani (2018 et 2021).

Après avoir obtenu son diplôme à la Juilliard School en 2013, Lea a commencé sa carrière à Montréal, au Canada, en dansant internationalement avec Victor Quijada/RUBBERBANDance Group et en tombant amoureuse de la pratique du breakdance et de la culture de la danse de rue. En 2016, elle rejoint le Ballet royal de Suède à Stockholm où elle interprète le rôle de Julia dans Julia & Romeo de Mats Ek. Elle a ensuite rejoint le Nederlands Dans Theater pendant cinq saisons, créant de nouvelles œuvres avec Crystal Pite, Hofesh Shechter et Marina Mascarell – les plus influents parmi d’autres – tout en partageant des ateliers, en poursuivant l’échange créatif et en se développant en tant que créatrice. Aujourd’hui artiste indépendante, Lea a été invitée par Kidd Pivot et Out Innerspace Dance Theater.

Lea a enseigné et partagé un certain nombre d’ateliers de recherche créative, notamment à la Juilliard School, Gibney Dance, b12, Out Innerspace, Nuova X, No)One. Art House, Motion Lab et le Nederlands Dans Theater, entre autres. Elle a travaillé en étroite collaboration avec Victor Quijada, enseignant la méthode RUBBERBANDance et participant à la direction et à la mise en scène du répertoire à Springboard Danse Montréal, USC Kaufman School of Dance, North Carolina School of the Arts et au Domaine Forget.

Lea Ved (1991, Anaheim) is an independent choreographer and performer based in the Netherlands. Her choreographic work developed alongside a rich dance career — in reflection, deviation, and inquiry. Her creations are exploratory and investigative in nature, seeped between the detail of form and a cultivated improvisational practice. Her more notable works as a choreographer have been produced by Göteborgsoperans Danskompani, NDT, Korzo Theater, Poetic Disasters Club, Heavy Hitters Breakdance Crew and CaDance Festival. She joined Korzo Theater in 2025 for a four year choreographic residence.

For her work ‘darling we’re nowhere but here’ (Korzo, 2020), she won the Club Guy & Roni Partner Award during the 2021 Rotterdam International Duet Choreography Competition, and was also invited to the 2022 Sentidos Choreographic Competition. She was part of the Piket prize nomination and win for the Heavy Hitters breakdance crew for her collaborative work, Common Enemy, as part of the CaDance Festival in The Hague (2023) and has been selected twice to create for Göteborgsoperans Danskompani’s choreographic exchange (2018 & 2021).

After graduating from The Juilliard School in 2013, Lea began her career in Montreal, Canada dancing internationally with Victor Quijada/RUBBERBANDance Group and falling in love with breakdance practice and street dance culture. In 2016 she joined the Royal Swedish Ballet in Stockholm where she performed Mats Ek’s role of Julia in Julia & Romeo. She then joined Nederlands Dans Theater for five seasons, creating new work with Crystal Pite, Hofesh Shechter, and Marina Mascarell — most influentially among others — and meanwhile sharing workshops, pursuing creative exchange, and developing as a creator. Now as an independent artist, Lea has been a guest artist with Kidd Pivot and Out Innerspace Dance Theater.

Lea has taught and shared a number of creative research workshops, including at The Juilliard School, Gibney Dance, b12, Out Innerspace, Nuova X, No)One. Art House, Motion Lab, and Nederlands Dans Theater, among others. She has worked closely with Victor Quijada, teaching the RUBBERBANDance Method and assisting with directing and staging repertory at Springboard Danse Montreal, USC Kaufman School of Dance, North Carolina School of the Arts, and Domaine Forget.
